Class of Bootleg Class 2 - Duplicated and Modified
Class Notes: New line name, duplicated and modified molds
Bootleg Source: 1994 Galoob Biker Mice From Mars figures (mostly)
Bootleg Rating: StarStarStar (Three out of five stars)
Sightings:Canada
Vintage:Pre-1999, probably close to 1994-95

Figure on card This is an older bootleg from a line of toys that now qualifies as a cult classic; Biker Mice From Mars.

The figure comes carded on a 6" x 11" backer, printed on the front only. The figure is blister carded to the left side. (Mine was opened and stapled closed - you can see the staples around the border if you squint.)

The card has images of the three main characters, Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo. The art is based on the 1994 Galoob toys, even carying the correct weapons, although the characters are dressed slighly differently.

The major change, of course, is the line name. No longer are they the Biker Mice. Now and forever, they have been bootlegged as:

Power Mice

The logo and typeface are brand new - which is odd considering how slavishly they copied the rest of the art and concepts.

The card has a small bit of manufacturer info on the lower right:

Made in China
Item No.: 8122

The child safety warning (bottom center of card) lists the toys as "Not for childern under 3 years"

The figure shown is a bootleg of Throttle. Below, there is a detail of both the toy's head, and the artist's rendering on the backboard.

Throttle from Card art Detail of figure head

The figure is articulated at the neck, waist, arms, and legs. (Not bad for a bootleg!) The head, torso, and arms appear to be of Galoob ancestry, but I wasn't able to match up the figure from the waist down with any released Galoob Biker Mice product.

Throttle's vest is made of pink nylon, and matches a popular bootleg of Hercules in cut and style.

The package identifies many features of the toy, as detailed here:

The mysterious missing accessory

Now, as mentioned earlier, my lone Power Mice item was opened and re-sealed before I recieved it. So I have no idea what the Removable Title Belt looks like, although there is a spot for it in the blister design.

Still, it sounds more like a wrestling accessory than a Biker Mice item, no?

As I knew almost nothing about the Biker Mice previously, I checked out this excellent site to learn facts for this review. (And, no, I didn't steal any text or photos. Neither should you.)
