Bond, Bootleg Bond.

This is one of those troubling Class-Three bootlegs that is very close to a concept, but just far enough away that there is probably no wrong-doing.

Take a look at the photo at right. Does it remind you of anyone?

To me, and to most others who see it, it looks an awful lot like James Bond as portrayed by Roger Moore.

It's not a perfect likeness, and it sure isn't a photo. But it's pretty close. And when you put the image in "context"....

With the hellicopter and city skyline in the background....

As part of a toy cap gun set...

...Well, it just screams "Secret Agent" to me.

Here's an image of the whole set. The backer is printed on the front only.

Toy On Card

Blister carded to the backing is a fairly heavy, die-cast, cap gun. And a small metal "clip" to load the caps on. Notice that the caps aren't included. (It makes me wonder where they expect people to go to get them. I haven't seen any for sale in years.)

The gun has "Model M8 A.P." and "Winner" stamped onto the barrel, and the whole gun has a deep bronze coloration.

Along the bottom of the card is the following:

Don't Shoot Your Eye out!

At far left is the manufacturer logo for "Timmy Toys". At far right, instuctions for use. There is a graphic above this text showing how to load the cap gun.

Overall, a so-so bootleg. I included it mainly to showcase the many many MANY bootlegs that are out there that have almost-images of celebraties on them to increase sales.

I also like the name. "Super Top Gun" is just a bit extravagant for this lame toy. And just what the heck is a "Top Gun" anyway. Does it spin? Or what?
