Class of Bootleg Class 2 - Duplicated and Modified
Class Notes: New line name, duplicated molds
Bootleg Source: Tomy Pokemon Toys
Bootleg Rating: StarStarStar (Three out of five stars)
Sightings:California
Vintage:1999, 2000

Title Art This was one of the very first Pokemon bootlegs to surface in the USA - and one of the few not to cash in directly on anything offered by Nintendo at the time.

These figures are based off of Tomy's wind-up Pokemon toys...in fact, if you disregard the line name and packaging, they're exactly the same.

This time the Bootleggers did make some changes, making this a Class Two offering - for example the line name has been changed to Walking of Fairy.

The card design is also brand new, with a single sided backer sporting both a die-cut background an a fairly elaborate bubble.

As shown at top right, the bootleggers make no pretense of hiding Pikachu, incorporating the Pokemon mascot into their header design.

Here are two examples of the toys:

Fairy 1 Fairy 2

In the front of the bubble, just below the partially-assembled toys, is a cardboard insert with a series of product shots. The image wraps around to the bottom of the package, with the "Walking of Fairy" logo as the center piece.

There are 12 toys shown, ranging from Charizard to Pikachu on a skateboard. My understanding is this is the entire first wave of these toys, as seen overseas.
