The Pokemon line has created a vast wave of bootleg toys. Any kids toy and cartoon line as popular as this was bound to.

That said, let's take a look at one of the many class-two immiators, Prodigy Pet.

Prodigy Pet Logo
There have been several sub-lines of Prodigy Pet discovered, from the 6-Pack of figures reviewed here, all the way out to bootleg keychains.

All come on a similar backboard, scaled up or down depending on the number and size of toys offered. At the top the "Fun Battle Game" and "Prodigy Pet" logos, a child safety warning in the upper right corner, and a slep of pokemon images lifted direct from the series.

Psyduck finds missiles scarry! The fun part is that they all also include the image at left.

Yes, one of the toys in the Prodigy Pet line includes an accessory with missile cabailities. So EVERY Prodigy Pet is advertised as having this feature! Even though most are just non-articulated hunks of plastic with no moving parts at all!

I guess you could throw them at other kids, though. That's a "Missle Function" in a way.

I like the ay the worried looking Psyduck is positioned under the missile advert. Makes him look a bit concerned about getting blasted, no?

Anyway, let's take a look at this incarnation of Prodigy Pet.

Card layout
Six 1" figures come blister carded to the single-sided backer. The plastic used in the bubble is really sub-standard and mushes easily.

Charmeleon, Pikachu, Charmander
From left to right we have Charmeleon, "Attacking" Pikachu, and Charmander.

Pikachu, Blastoise, Pikachu
The bottom row has "Standing" Pikachu, Blastoise, and "Victory" Pikachu.

There are at least two assortments of figures; the one shown here and a second with the same versions of Pikachu in addition to Squirtle, Chaizard, and Wartotle.
