One of the halmarks of the 1980's was Hasbro's "My Little Pony" line. There were TONS of these toys. They're still being marketed TODAY.
It should come as no surprise, then, that there are bootleg versions of MLP out there.
One of the more obnoxious Class threes is the example at right...
My Lovely Pony
The toy comes on a single sided backer, the toy horse itself is only 4" or so tall.
The card art and line name are reasonably close ties to Hasbro's product, much more so than the included horse. First take the line name. I'm sure that the similarities between "My Lovely Pony" and "My Little Pony" weren't accidental.
Most damning, however, is the images of the ponies on the card art. Standing on a cloud, near a fantasy castle, are two horses that look like they were traced directly off of Hasbro's packaging.
I'm no MLP expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I did take some time to visit a few of the many fan sites out there. It'd be hard to miss the tell-tale MLP features, the bell-bottom hooves, the stylistic treatment of the mane and tail.
Finally, notice the other items that come with the horse. A hat, a brush, a trophy, and a comb. None of which really have anything to do with the included horse, but all useful items to a Hasbro Pony. Although I couldn't find a matching photo, the Dream Valley site has images that suggest that the combs and brushes were taken DIRECTLY from MLP toys!
You do the math.
