Excellent Petit Soldier Here's a bootleg based on some of the later Sailor Moon cartoons - ones I haven't had a chance to see yet! Keep this in mind when you don't really get any background on these characters...

Anyway, this is a series of 6" figurines copied from Bandai's Salior Moon line. The logo at right is found on the upper left corner of the package. As you can see, it identifies the line as "Excellent Petit Soldier" with a cool shadow of Sailor Moon and a crecent moon. Both of which would look right at home on an 18-Wheeler's mud-flaps.

Sailor Moon Package Detail On the right hand side of the package is the image at left, identifying the bootleg as "Sailor Moon" for all those who might have a doubt.

I've been told that this style of packaging dates from the very first releases of Sailor Moon merchandise. This particular bootleg was located in late 1998, so you know that they were working from "old stock."

The toys come in a large box that holds two figures. The box is printed on all sides, and has a vac-formed white plastic tray to hold the toys.

The back of the package, shown below, has a stock number of 4001/2B. It shows all four figures available in the set: Sailormoon, Chibimoon, Sailorneptune and Sailoruranus.

There's also a diagram showing how to place the figures on their stands.

Package back

Since the figures come two to a package, and there are four figures, naturally we've got two sets to look at.

Sailorneptune and Chibimoon

Neptune and Chibimoon in package

First up are the Bootleg versions of Sailor Neptune and Chibi-Moon. For some reason, the names have been compacted into a single word.

Here's a closer look at both figures:

Sailor Neptune Detail of Chibimoon

Both figures are articulated only at the shoulders. The paiting on both is thick-n-gloopy, and neither have undergarments painted on. (They're going commando!)

In a rare generous moment, the bootlegers made up for the small amount of plastic used by Chibimoon by also providing Luna-P.

Uh, this is Luna-P, right?

Sailormoon and Sailorunranus

Sailor Moon and Uranus in package

Once again, the figures are articulated only at the shoulders, with thick paint and no panties. And their names have been mushed togheter, too.

Sailor Moon toy Sailor Uranus
Each package comes with two stands...unfortunately, in the sets I saw, both came with stands for Sailoruranus and Sailorneptune. Sailormoon and Chibimoon are on their own.

For a Sailor Moon bootleg, I can't say that this is too terribly creative. Sure, the packaging is nice, and the figures are only slighly lower quality than their Bandai counterparts, but there just isn't anything remarkable about this knock-off. It's not even particularly funny - unless of course you're willing to cuckle at "Salior Uranus" jokes.

Still, I'm glad I have them!
