Class of Bootleg Class 1 - Exact Duplicate
Class Notes: Wave 3 of the Episode I bootlegs
Bootleg Source: Hasbro "Episode 1" figures
Bootleg Rating: StarStarStarStar (Four out of five stars)
Sightings:Singapore, USA(?)
Vintage:August, 1999

The third wave of Bootlegs from Star Wars:Episode One began to surface in August of 1999. Like the previous wave this set was made from very exact copies of Hasbro's molds.

All the figures in Collection One have been reported as appearning on Anakin cards.

New Darth Maul bootleg

In the Dath Maul shown here, you can see that the colorations are correct, the (non-functional) CommTech chip has the correct sticker format, and the detail is sharp and clear.

A good contrast to the first wave is in the figure's head:

Wave 1 Maul
Wave 1 Maul
Wave 3 Maul
Wave 3 Maul

As you can see, there is very little to distingish this wave from Hasbro's real product, except for the lack of copyright material on the packaging and the general cheapness of the plastic.

The original version of the images used here were first posted by DARE on the Toymania buzz board. I touched them up a bit for color/contrast/etc.
