Actually, taking a look at the robot mode, it's an amalgan of 2 of the Brainmasters. The car mode and the helmet are from Braver, and the chest, belt, and faceplate are from Laster. Since I didn't see the robot mode before I wrote my response, I had no idea it was such a funky combo.

The red car is Braver, part of Takara's 1988 "Transformers Victory" toyline in Japan. He was also released later in Europe (with fewer accesories) as Flame. He was an Autobot (or as they called them in japan a"Cybertron.")

He combines with Blacker and Laster (two other VERY similar cars/robots) to form the robot Road Ceaser. The other gimmick was that they came with little robots that could fold up into a cube, be pushed up into the robot's helmet areas and lower the bigger robot's faceplate (similar to the HeadMaster gimmick of previous years.) Because of this little gimmick, their subgroup name was "BrainMasters."
