Serenity in LEGO
    Construction

The next bit of Serenity to make the jump to LEGO form was the bridge. I spent a few days trying various construction ideas before stumbling upon one that worked. Suddenly, Serenity had a face! (Click for a larger view)

I wasn't completely happy with the way the bridge was joining up with the neck, so I ripped it out and tried again. It was improvement (smoother, if nothing else) but there was still a lot of room for fine tuning.

This shot shows Serenity as she waited for the last light bricks to arrive. I still had to build the Shuttle craft (and docking platforms) as well. But otherwise, I was pretty content with the way things looked. I decided to share some more "in progress" photos with one of the LEGO users groups I frequent on-line.

While most of the comments I had gotten had been quite positive, one member pointed out that, when compared with the 3/4 angle shots of Serenity he had found on-line, my version was very boxy. I stopped my gleeful dancing and took a closer look at what he was talking about. And, wouldn't you know it, he was right.

I hate it when that happens.
