The nice thing about the reboot is being able to bring back obscure characters who don’t fit into the current story. Characters that, for whatever reason, the readers keep demanding to see. Colada the Pineapple Man tops that list.
His antagonist has also appeared in-strip before (He was in a Brick-Cola ad.) but as far as I know no one has ever asked to see him again.
My original vision for this strip didn’t include the self-censorship. I’ve never presented this strip as anything more kid-friendly than PG-13, and I don’t know of any 13 year olds who aren’t aware of this particular rejoinder.
Still…I do try and keep the harsh language to a minimum here…and to break that just for a throwaway joke seemed a bit unwise. So you get a censor bar that doesn’t quite obscure everything.

I’m reminded of Wolverine’s cameo in X-Men:First class… the only one in the movie to drop an f-bomb, his only dialogue is a variant of Colada’s in the 4th panel.
