Pop/R&B singer Brandy was born Brandy Norwood in Macomb, Miss. in 1979, but moved with her family to California at a young age. Brandy grew up singing in church (her father is a minister) but was drawn into pop music after hearing Whitney Houston on the radio.
Brandy landed a record deal with Atlantic in 1993; the following year her debut album, Brandy, went platinum thanks to hit singles like "Broken Hearted" and the Top 10 cut "I Wanna Be Down." She has since gone on to a successful television acting career on the show "Moesha."
Brandy was marooned on the island in an interesting fashion: she was shot out of a cannon.
"I thought it was just a carnival ride, y'know?" the young sonstress muses. "There was this little frog-like guy running the booth and all I remember him saying was something like 'Into the tube you will get.' and then I was flying through the air." Sounds like another hi-jacking by Mr. Bad Ass to us.
Brandy is positive about her chances of lasting on the island. "I can work hard, and I'll be an asset to the comminity. Plus, I'm cute."
